The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a series of recalls for nearly two dozen pistachio and pistachio-containing products due to potential Salmonella contamination. This action is part of an ongoing investigation that has intensified over the past few months, with the latest recalls announced within the first eight days of January 2026.

According to the CFIA, the affected products are being removed from the market as a precautionary measure. The most recent recall, published on January 5, involves the “We Love Canada” brand of Heavenly Mix, which was sold online in a 150-gram package with a best-before date of June 30, 2026 and the UPC code 8 48385 00176 8. Additionally, another recall was issued for pistachio products distributed in Manitoba.

This wave of recalls adds to a growing list that has now reached 34 pages of documented products since the CFIA began tracking this outbreak. In total, there have been 23 recalls since January 2026, with several more issued in December 2025. The agency has linked the current Salmonella outbreak to pistachios originating from Iran.

Health Canada has issued a warning about the risks associated with consuming contaminated food. The agency advises that food contaminated with Salmonella may not exhibit any signs of spoilage and can still lead to serious illness. The CFIA emphasizes that consumers should not consume, serve, or distribute recalled products. Instead, they should be disposed of or returned to the point of purchase.

The CFIA has been actively issuing food recall warnings for pistachio and pistachio-containing products since November 12, 2025. Those who suspect they have fallen ill after consuming these products are encouraged to contact their healthcare provider.

For further information on specific recalls, consumers can access the CFIA’s official website, where additional details are available regarding previous recalls and safety notices.
