Man Charged After Found Sleeping in Stranger’s Home in Ontario
A 34-year-old man has been charged with unlawfully entering a residence after being discovered asleep on a couch in a home in Blind River, Ontario. The incident occurred early on the morning of October 25, 2023, when the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break-and-enter call around 3:45 a.m.
Upon arrival at the residence on Jacques Street, officers found the man sleeping in the living room. According to a police news release, the homeowners were surprised to see an unknown individual in their home. However, police indicated that the suspect was not a stranger to the homeowners.
The man was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Blind River detachment, where he was held until sober. The police confirmed that he has been charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling house.
The accused individual is set to appear in court in Elliot Lake on November 6, 2023, to address the charges. This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding residential security and the importance of promptly reporting suspicious activity to law enforcement.
As investigations continue, the OPP encourages residents to ensure their homes are secure and to be vigilant in their neighborhoods.
