KORE Outdoors Hosts Screening of Award-Winning Documentary “Subterranean”
KORE Outdoors is set to host a special screening of the award-winning documentary “Subterranean” on March 12, 2024, at Centre 64 in Kimberley. The event will begin at 19:00 and will feature a live Q&A session with explorer Katie Graham, moderated by adventure journalist Jayme Moye.
The documentary, which has garnered multiple accolades including the award for Best Adventure Film at the prestigious Banff Mountain Film Festival, chronicles the thrilling journeys of two teams of cave explorers on the verge of new discoveries. One of these teams is led by Graham, an accountant who has turned her passion for caving into a full-time pursuit.
Graham is particularly focused on the Bisaro Anima cave system, located near Fernie, which is believed to be the deepest cave in Canada. The film captures her dramatic high-risk scuba dive aimed at pushing the limits of caving records. The documentary runs for 53 minutes and promises to engage viewers with its breathtaking visuals and gripping narrative.
Following the screening, Moye will engage Graham in a discussion about the film’s most pivotal moments. They will touch on her journey from accounting to caving, the establishment of her Golden-based caving apparel company, Minus 90, and her upcoming expeditions.
This event represents a significant opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts and the local community to connect with pioneering figures in the outdoor recreation technology sector. KORE Outdoors, a non-profit organization dedicated to elevating this sector within the Kootenay region, aims to inspire more people to explore and appreciate the great outdoors.
As the excitement builds for this unique event, attendees can expect an evening filled with adventure, inspiration, and insights into the world of cave exploration.
