High School Sports Schedule: Key Matches from September 15-20, 2025
The upcoming week from September 15 to September 20, 2025, features a packed schedule of high school sports events across multiple disciplines in the area. The week kicks off with boys golf tournaments and culminates with football games, showcasing the talent and competitive spirit among local teams.
Monday, September 15: A Day of Golf and Soccer
Golf enthusiasts can look forward to the Little Ten Tournament at Indian Oaks, where boys teams from Newark, Somonauk/Leland, Earlville, and Serena will compete starting at 9 a.m.. Later in the day, the Ottawa and Streator teams will face off at the Ottawa Invitational held at Deer Park at 1 p.m.. The boys soccer matches begin at 4:30 p.m., featuring teams from Somonauk/Leland/Newark against Mendota, and Earlville taking on IMSA.
Additionally, volleyball matches will take place throughout the evening, with highlights including Leland visiting Parkview Christian at 5:30 p.m. and multiple matches starting at 6 p.m..
Midweek Action: September 16-18
On Tuesday, September 16, cross country runners from Ottawa, Streator, Fieldcrest, and Somonauk/Leland will compete at Baker Lake starting at 4 p.m.. Boys golf teams will also be active, with several matches scheduled, including Flanagan-Cornell participating in the Tri-Valley’s Viking Scramble at 1 p.m..
Wednesday, September 17, will see a continuation of golf competitions, with Seneca facing Sandwich at 4 p.m.. Soccer matches will ramp up in the evening, with La Salle-Peru taking on Ottawa at 6 p.m. and Somonauk/Leland/Newark facing Indian Creek at 7 p.m..
Thursday, September 18, will feature the Trojan Invitational in cross country, hosted by Dwight. Boys golf teams will also participate in various invitationals, including the Livingston County Invitational starting at 1 p.m..
Weekend Highlights: Football and Tournaments
As the weekend approaches, Friday, September 19, brings excitement with several football matches scheduled at 7 p.m.. Notable games include Marquette visiting Dwight and Seneca traveling to Genoa-Kingston. The boys golf team from Dwight will also compete in the Grant Park Invitational at 1 p.m..
Saturday, September 20, features a busy day with cross country teams from Marquette, Seneca, Fieldcrest, and others participating in the Bureau Valley’s Dale Donner Invitational at 9:30 a.m.. The day also includes golf events, with Somonauk/Leland competing in the Genoa-Kingston’s Noles Invitational at 8 a.m., while the girls golf team from Sandwich will be at the La Salle-Peru Invitational.
This week promises to be filled with competitive spirit and athletic excellence as local teams from various schools showcase their skills across multiple sports. Fans and families are encouraged to attend these events and support their teams.
