Sony Xperia 1 VI Receives Android 16 Update Across Europe
The Sony Xperia 1 VI is now receiving the stable Android 16 update across European markets, including the UK. This update follows the rollout of Android 16 for the Xperia 1 VII last month, marking a significant upgrade for the company’s 2025 flagship model. Users can expect enhancements that bring the build number to 69.2.A.2.30.
This update is approximately 850MB in size and includes the October security patch, according to reports from users on Reddit. This marks the second major update for the Xperia 1 VI, following the introduction of Android 15 in November 2024. Under Sony’s software update schedule, the phone is set to receive one additional major update in the future.
Expected Enhancements and Changes
While the complete changelog for Android 16 is not yet available, users can anticipate various system-wide stability improvements and optimizations. There are expected to be minimal user interface changes along with several new features inherent to Android 16.
The update also upgrades the camera application to version 1.0.2.A.0.6. Although the specific enhancements to the user interface and camera performance are not fully detailed, user feedback indicates noticeable changes. For instance, the appearance of fingerprint notifications in applications has been altered, and the 5G logo has undergone a redesign.
Moreover, the update modifies the organization of the Settings menu, relocating the System and About Phone sections to the middle of the list rather than the bottom. Users have also noted minor animation changes when transitioning between or closing applications, suggesting a refined user experience.
As Android 16 continues to roll out, Xperia 1 VI users are encouraged to check for updates to ensure they can take advantage of the latest features and enhancements.
