PlayStation Announces State of Play Presentation for September 24
PlayStation has confirmed that its next major State of Play presentation will take place on September 24, 2023, at 5 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. PT. The event is set to last over 35 minutes and will showcase game reveals from both first- and third-party developers. Among the highlights is an anticipated look at Saros, an action game developed by the PlayStation-owned studio Housemarque, which will feature nearly five minutes of gameplay footage.
Fans can watch the live stream on PlayStation’s official YouTube and Twitch channels. This year’s presentation is expected to follow a tradition of September showcases, which typically unveil details about games slated for release within the calendar year and beyond.
Rumours surrounding the upcoming State of Play suggest that attendees may finally receive an update on Marvel’s Wolverine—a project from Insomniac, the same studio behind the successful Marvel’s Spider-Man. The game, originally announced in September 2021, has seen little news since its reveal. Notably, work-in-progress footage of the title was leaked in late 2023 as part of a cyberattack targeting the developer.
Anticipated Game Reveals and Rumours
Additional titles speculated to appear during the presentation include Bungie’s Marathon, S-Game’s Phantom Blade Zero, and a Metroidvania spin-off of God of War focusing on Kratos’ brother, Deimos. Deimos was a character featured in the PSP game Ghost of Sparta.
The timing of the State of Play coincides with the Tokyo Game Show, which has led to speculation about potential updates regarding Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem. A credible leaker connected to the Resident Evil franchise has hinted that the presentation may include the long-awaited reveal of fan-favourite character Leon.
As the date approaches, anticipation builds among the gaming community, with many eager to see what PlayStation has in store. The event promises to deliver exciting news for fans and industry watchers alike. Stay tuned for live coverage of the State of Play as it unfolds.
