Google Releases January 2026 Update for Pixel Devices with Key Fixes
Google has initiated the rollout of its January 2026 update for Pixel devices, introducing a range of fixes along with the January security patch. While the specific details of the security enhancements have yet to be disclosed, the update addresses several notable issues across various Pixel models.
Key Fixes for Pixel 10 and Above
The most significant improvements target the Pixel 10. Users will benefit from a fix for the flickering issue that affected the Always-On Display (AOD) under certain conditions. Additionally, the update resolves a problem where users experienced noisy lines when editing HDR photos in Adobe Lightroom. Enhanced GPU performance has also been implemented, improving overall graphical capabilities under specific scenarios.
Another major fix addresses a troubling issue with the Pixel 10’s touchscreen, which had intermittently stopped responding in certain situations. According to user reports, this problem should now be resolved, ensuring a smoother user experience.
Two additional fixes apply to all Pixel devices from the Pixel 7a and newer. The first targets a persistent issue with noisy ringback tones during Webex calls, occurring under certain conditions. The second fix resolves a problem where deleting a Live Universe wallpaper could render the Wallpaper and Style application unusable until the device was rebooted.
Battery Life Improvements for Newer Models
For devices from the Pixel 8 and newer, the update addresses a significant battery drain issue that some users encountered under specific conditions. This enhancement aims to improve the overall battery life, a crucial factor for many smartphone users.
The update is available for a range of Pixel devices, including the Pixel 7a, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and others. Notably, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are excluded from this rollout, as the Pixel 7a is a newer model.
As is customary with Google updates, the rollout occurs in stages. Consequently, while some users may receive the update immediately, others might need to wait a little longer for their devices to be upgraded.
This latest update reflects Google’s ongoing commitment to improving the performance and user experience of its Pixel devices, ensuring that customers benefit from timely enhancements and fixes.
