Global Leaders Converge in Toronto for Economic Transformation Forum
Global leaders and decision-makers are set to gather in Toronto from October 15 to 17, 2025, for the annual Toronto Global Forum. This prestigious event aims to address the pressing challenges and opportunities in today’s complex economic and geopolitical landscape under the theme, “Leading in Times of Transformation.”
The forum, organized by the International Economic Forum of the Americas (IEFA), will take place at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel. It marks its 19th year and serves as a platform for dialogue on both national and global issues, fostering collaboration among leaders from various sectors.
Key Themes and Discussions
Each day of the forum will focus on different themes that reflect current global priorities. On October 15, discussions will revolve around finance, trade, supply chain, and food security. The following day, October 16, will highlight energy, infrastructure, and critical resources. Finally, on October 17, participants will explore geopolitics, innovation, and technology.
Attendees can expect in-depth discussions on vital topics such as energy security, the future of trade, critical minerals, infrastructure, and the implications of artificial intelligence. Notably, select sessions will be livestreamed, allowing a global audience to engage with the discussions.
Global Representation and Perspectives
The Toronto Global Forum attracts a diverse group of participants, including heads of state, central bank governors, and high-level economic decision-makers. While the forum is not primarily political, its focus on the intersection of global economic challenges and policy decisions inevitably draws significant attention from the political sphere.
Critics of the forum’s economic worldview argue that it leans towards a globalist agenda, potentially sidelining local community needs. Others express concern over an emphasis on profit-driven solutions rather than exploring alternative approaches that may better serve various populations.
Among the notable speakers for the 2025 edition are Boitumelo Mosako, CEO of the Development Bank of South Africa, Börje Ekholm, President and CEO of Ericsson, and Bowei Lee, Group Chairman of LCY Chemical. Their insights are expected to contribute significantly to the forum’s discussions.
Reflecting on the event, Nicholas Rémillard, CEO of the IEFA, stated, “It is a privilege to welcome this delegation of thought leaders and industry experts to this year’s Toronto Global Forum. This year’s theme reflects the increasingly challenging landscape our global leaders find themselves navigating and the opportunities to foster a future where our economies can thrive.”
As the Toronto Global Forum approaches, anticipation builds for what promises to be a crucial gathering aimed at shaping the future of global economic collaboration and innovation.
