Free Science Expo Invites Community Engagement in Saanich
A community-focused non-profit organization, Passport to Science, is set to host a free, hands-on science expo at Tillicum Centre in Saanich on January 31, 2026. The event aims to make science engaging and accessible to all, featuring interactive exhibits that encourage curiosity and participation among attendees.
The expo will consist of two timed sessions: the first from 10:00 to 12:00 and the second from 12:00 to 14:00. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with various exhibits, including life-sized dinosaur models, robots, and opportunities to study insects. Engaging in hands-on experiments led by local science organizations, attendees can expect an immersive learning experience.
Passport to Science strives to eliminate financial barriers to science education, making STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) resources available to the community. The organization believes that by fostering an interest in these fields from an early age, they can inspire future generations of learners.
In addition to the interactive exhibits, the expo will serve as a pre-order opportunity for the free 2026 Passports to Science. This initiative offers guided explorations of partner STEAM organizations, with pick-up scheduled for a follow-up event during the March break.
While admission to the science expo is free, attendees must reserve their spots in advance. This reservation system is designed to manage attendance effectively, ensuring a fulfilling experience for everyone involved. Interested individuals can register for the event by visiting www.eventbrite.ca.
As this community-driven initiative approaches, it promises to create an engaging and educational environment that welcomes learners of all ages. By making science accessible and enjoyable, Passport to Science reinforces its commitment to nurturing curiosity and fostering a love for learning in the community.
