LaSalle Firefighters Drive Holiday Joy with Successful Toy Campaign
In LaSalle, local firefighters are ensuring that the spirit of Christmas reaches every child in the community through their annual Sparky’s Toy Drive. Launched in November 2023, this initiative has successfully gathered new toys, gift cards, and cash donations to support families in need during the festive season.
Community Support Fuels the Initiative
According to Brian Bartlett from the LaSalle Firefighters Association, the response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive. “The community really rallied around us and helped make the drive a success,” Bartlett stated. This year, the campaign assisted approximately 100 LaSalle families, allowing them to experience the joy of Christmas morning.
The firefighters collect new, unwrapped toys intended for children of all ages, alongside gift cards and cash contributions. The program relies heavily on the generosity of local businesses and individuals, who have graciously allowed donation boxes to be placed at various locations throughout LaSalle. “We want to thank all of the local businesses that stepped up,” Bartlett added. “We couldn’t do it without them.”
Volunteers Make It Happen
Sparky’s Toy Drive is operated entirely by dedicated volunteers who contribute their time to various tasks, including registration, donation pick-up, packaging, and distribution. This community-driven effort not only brings joy to children but also fosters a sense of camaraderie and support among residents.
The initiative showcases the power of community spirit, with both individuals and local enterprises coming together to ensure that no child is left without a gift this holiday season. As the lights continue to twinkle across LaSalle, the success of this campaign stands as a testament to the collective goodwill of its residents.
