Community Raises Over $65,000 for Holiday Food Drive
The Helping Hand Food Bank successfully raised over $65,500 during its Holiday Fundraiser, which took place at the Brick N Fire restaurant in Bradford on December 3. The event attracted more than 100 guests, including local business leaders and residents, all united to support families facing food insecurity this holiday season.
Carolyn Khan, Executive Director of the Helping Hand Food Bank, expressed gratitude for the community’s overwhelming response. “This community showed truly extraordinary generosity,” she stated. “More than $65,000 raised — and climbing — will directly support the over 1,400 people who rely on us each month. We are deeply grateful for the way Bradford continues to show up for its neighbours.”
The fundraiser not only highlighted the spirit of giving but also emphasized the ongoing need for support among vulnerable families in the area. As donations continue to come in, the food bank encourages anyone interested in contributing to visit their website for more information on how to help.
This initiative underscores the vital role that community involvement plays in addressing food insecurity, particularly during the holiday season when the need is often heightened. The Helping Hand Food Bank remains committed to serving the local population, ensuring that families have access to essential food supplies.
As the holiday season progresses, the food bank’s efforts serve as a reminder of the impact that collective action can have in alleviating hardship and fostering a sense of solidarity within the community.
