Castlegar Celebrates Festive Spirit in Merry & Bright Contest

The winners of the **Merry & Bright Holiday Decoration Contest** in Castlegar have been announced, highlighting the community’s festive spirit. This annual competition, which is a collaboration between **Castlegar News**, the **City of Castlegar**, and **FortisBC**, saw numerous entries this year as residents transformed their homes into holiday displays.

Judging took place on **December 20, 2023**, when a panel of judges toured the decorated homes to select the winners. Participants competed for a total of **$1,000** in gift certificates to local businesses, further encouraging community engagement and support for local commerce.

In the contest, the grand prize was awarded to the residence located at **608 Yew St.**, while **420 11th Ave. (unit 4)** secured second place. The most creative decorations were recognized as well, with **2108 10th Ave.** taking first place in this category, and **2620 4th Ave.** following closely in second.
