Saskatoon Wellness Expo Promotes Proactive Health for All
The 17th annual Saskatoon Wellness Expo commenced on October 14, 2023, at Prairieland Park, showcasing a new approach to health care that emphasizes wellness over traditional medical practices. The two-day event invites residents to engage with a wide range of health topics, including fitness, nutrition, mental health, financial well-being, and spiritual growth.
Rick Thiessen, who co-hosts the expo with his wife, emphasized the need for a shift from the current reactive health care system in Canada. “You can’t go see a doctor or go to a hospital without having a problem,” he stated. Thiessen advocates for a proactive approach, urging individuals to prioritize their health through proper diet, exercise, and spiritual connection.
The expo features dozens of exhibitors and local businesses dedicated to promoting healthier lifestyles. Attendees can explore offerings from various provinces, including Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver. Scheduled speakers throughout the event will provide insights into health and wellness, enhancing the educational aspect of the expo.
Innovative Health Solutions at the Expo
Among the notable new exhibitors this year is The Drip Wellness, which specializes in injectable wellness supplements. Nurse Mariah Kaspardlov explained the benefits of intravenous therapy, stating, “It bypasses your GI tract and goes directly into your bloodstream, allowing for better absorption.” Kaspardlov highlighted the importance of raising awareness about IV therapy in Saskatoon, noting that many people report significant health improvements after treatment.
Another exhibitor, Sirius Health Thai Massage, offered free massage sessions to attendees. Owner Grant Martens noted the unique opportunity the expo provides for reaching individuals who are seeking alternatives to Western medicine. “Almost everybody who walks through the door is looking for something that isn’t working with Western medicine,” he said, indicating a strong demand for alternative health solutions.
Community Engagement and Growth
The popularity of the Saskatoon Wellness Expo has led to a selective process for exhibitors. Thiessen mentioned that they often turn down applicants who do not align with the event’s core philosophy. This year’s expo is expected to attract approximately 3,000 visitors before concluding on October 15, enhancing community engagement in proactive health practices.
Overall, the event serves as a vibrant platform for individuals to explore diverse health options and connect with resources that promote holistic well-being. The Saskatoon Wellness Expo not only highlights the importance of preventive health but also fosters a community dedicated to improving quality of life through informed choices.
