Sault Ste. Marie Libraries Open Doors for Community Tours
Residents of Sault Ste. Marie will have the opportunity to explore their local public library branches on October 4, 2023, as part of the annual Doors Open event. This initiative aims to engage the community by showcasing the architectural features and historical significance of the libraries in the area.
At 10:00 a.m., renowned local author Frank Sarlo will give a reading at the James L. McIntyre Centennial Library, setting an inviting tone for the day’s activities. Following the reading, guided tours will take place at 11:00 a.m., 11:45 a.m., and 12:30 p.m.. These tours will focus on the architectural highlights of the East Street building, allowing attendees to appreciate its design and history.
Afternoon Tours at North Branch
In the afternoon, the attention will shift to the North Branch, where tours will commence at 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.. These tours will feature a special emphasis on the archives, providing visitors with insights into the library’s collections and historical documents.
Participation in the tours requires pre-registration through EventBrite. Each individual in a group must sign up separately to ensure an organized experience for all attendees. This initiative not only promotes local culture but also fosters community engagement by making library resources more accessible.
The Sault Ste. Marie Public Library is committed to serving as a hub for learning and cultural exchange, and this event is a reflection of that mission. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this unique opportunity to connect with their community and discover the treasures housed within their local library branches.
