Medicine Hat Program Invites Participants to Explore Moths at Night

The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program is hosting a unique nighttime event focused on moths, inviting participants to delve into the fascinating world of these nocturnal insects. The event will take place on September 27, 2023, starting at 9 p.m. and concluding at 10:30 p.m., in the Kensington neighborhood.
During this engaging program, attendees will learn various methods to attract, catch, and identify different species of moths. Participants will utilize several types of live traps and techniques to enhance their understanding of these creatures. “We will be meeting to set up the traps and discuss the significant roles that moths play in the ecosystem,” said Genevieve Mathieu, a park interpreter involved in the initiative.
Registration and Participation Details
With a limited number of spots available, interested individuals must register in advance. A nominal fee of $5 per person is required to cover the cost of equipment used during the event. Those wishing to participate are encouraged to contact the nature line at 403-529-6225 to secure their place.
