IBM invites candidates who have working experience on Power7, Linux and AIX application for IBM Power System certifications.
If you belong to sales department, then you have two categories of certification to choose from sellers and technical sellers. Sellers group gives you to become sales expert in Power7 and AIX or Power7 and IBM i. Expert in sellers is designed only for Power7 system. Technical sellers are requested to have same certification as for sellers but in terms technical sales.
Importance
IBM Certified advanced system expert certification provides an opportunity for those who have minimum three years of experience of AIX functions and virtualization of power system Power7. Generally IBM business partners who are involved in sales, designing and implementing the power systems become eligible for technical expert certification. One step down, same course is offered for System experts with AIX & Linux combination and administration. System experts opting for this test should have three years of experience in technical support, virtualization technical support and day to day admin activities. Course Detail
IBM Certified operator certification deals with basic operations involved in AIX and IBM I applications. Basic AIX certification requires at least 6 months of experience in supporting the admin in various tasks. The test scope includes understanding and manipulation of AIX file systems, great knowledge of AIX storage, printing management, terminal activities control, Korn shell (AIX standard) and user management. Basic IBM i operator must have 6-18 months of experience on various tasks like managing the tapes and printers, performing basic user management, monitoring the system and highlight for security threats. The syllabus for the tests covers topics like performance saves and restore, management of users and printers, monitoring and management of system. In the management of system one should really covers the chapters like PTF level, install or apply the process, system status monitoring, usage of job scheduler to schedule the jobs, operate the network components.
Last but very important certification category is system administration. IBM provides admin certification in AIX and IBM i. AIX system admin would be responsible for leading and mentoring the operators. One should have experience of at least 18 months in performing variety of networking and daily management tasks.
