Create a Cozy, Crazy Cubicle

Is cubicle life getting you down? Try adding some of the great comforts of home, or at least something for entertainment. There’s no better way to make your days surrounded by three walls better than with fun gadgets.

These four cubicle gadgets are sure to impress, and in no time at all, you’ll be the talk of the office!

1. USB Powered Fan

Working in a cubicle all day can get quite stuffy at times. What do you do if your boss doesn’t believe in air conditioning? Keep your stale air circulating and stay cool on brutal summer days with a USB powered fan.

Unlike traditional desktop fans, these cool cubicle gadgets don’t need to be plugged into an outlet nor do they need batteries. Instead, you simply plug one of these babies right into any open USB port on your computer. While they may not be the most powerful fans on the market, they’re sure to provide you with a nice breath of fresh air, just when you need it,

2. Fake Window Shades

If you’re like many cubicle dwellers, you most likely yearn for an office, complete with a nice view and sunlight streaming through the windows. Well, we can’t really help you with the view, but we can point you in the right direction for the window – and it doesn’t even involve a sledgehammer or glass.

Fake window shades could be the solution for your windowless cubicle woes. Dubbed the Bright Blind, this blind is made electroluminescent sheets. To turn the Bright Shade on, all you need to do is give the cord a little tug. The brightness of the light is controlled by turning the wand on the front of the shade. Although it’s not a perfect substitute for natural light, it’s about as close as you’re going to get in a cubicle.

3. USB Heated Coffee Mug

No morning in your cramped little cubicle would be complete without a nice steaming cup of bitter office coffee to start your day. Unfortunately, even the seemingly invincible office coffee is prone to getting cold. A cold cup of coffee can make a bad morning get much worse very quickly.

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could keep your coffee warm all day long? Well, now you can, with a USB heated coffee mug. Light the USB desk fan, these types of coffee mugs run off of power from your computer. Simply plug the USB cord into an open USB port, and voila! Warm coffee all day long.

4. Kinetic Clock

Some days in a cubicle might seem as if they’ll never end. To count down the hours, minutes, and seconds you have left to go before you’re free, chances are you probably have a clock. Unfortunately, your clock is probably as bland as your cubicle. Nix that boring clock, and pass the time in style with a kinetic clock.

These clocks are made from sleek black plastic, with several steel ball bearings. Every minute and hour, a new ball bearing travels up from the tray on the bottom and drops into the “minute tray” or the “hour tray”. To read the time, you simply look at the numbers in front of each new ball bearing in each tray. When time runs out, so to speak, all of the ball bearings dump back into the holding tray in the bottom and the whole process starts all over again. Careful, though! With a nifty contraption like this on your desk, you’ll most likely spend more time watching the clock than you ever did before!
